Handmade DS Game Case

DS Game Case

I’ve gotta say that this is a great idea - transforming an old pair of pants into a case for all of your Nintendo DS games! Completely handmade and created from recycled materials, this case will hold up to 36 Nintendo DS games, which is way more than any other case out there. Each game gets its own little pocket, so it is held safely and securely. Plus, it rolls up, making it portable so you can bring your games with you wherever you go.

The creator of this particular case used leftover fabric from a pair of pants, and plastic taken out of an old pencil case. The crafter who made it also states that she doesn’t have much experience with sewing or using a sewing machine - which means that this would be a great project for beginners!

Lucky for all of us geeky crafty gamers, a complete tutorial is posted at Instructables! This project will require a little bit of prior experience with your sewing machine since you have to sew plastic sleeves to the fabric. Besides a sewing machine, the materials that you will need are:

  • fabric
  • bias tape or fabric for the edges
  • plastic for the game slots (you can also use fabric for this
  • a presser foot that will work with plastic, if you choose to use it

According to the author, this project should take about 6 hours in total to make - so set aside an afternoon and a bit, or a day on the weekend!

As you can see, the case rolls up with all of your games inside. Of course, you can adjust the size of the case to fit your own needs, depending on how many DS games that you have.
